L.A. Phil's Superstar Conductor Returns to New York

In October, 2009, eighteen thousand people packed the Hollywood Bowl to see Gustavo Dudamel, a twenty-eight-year-old Venezuelan conductor, in his first outing as the music director of the Los Angeles Philharmonic. Dudamel, an alumnus of El Sistema , was already a celebrity.
