Internationally acclaimed pianist and conductor, Christian Zacharias , is both guest artist and conductor in the first of two programs to be presented by the San Francisco Symphony this week. Having made his debut as a pianist with the San Francisco Symphony in 1982, Mr Zacharias marks his conducting debut with the Orchestra in a program which includes Copland 's Appalachian Spring , Mozart 's Piano Concerto No 2, a piece by Morton Feldman and Haydn's Symphony No 93. Maintaining his career as both performer and conductor, Christian Zacharias appears with many of the world's leading conductors, as both concert pianist and in recital.
